Could you imagine walking along the beach and seeing debris from a space shuttle on the shore? That's exactly what happened to the Reddit user who snapped these photos.
After posting these images online, it was discovered that this large piece of debris was actually from space.
The piece of metal was from a Ariane 5 rocket.
Specifically, it’s the payload shroud from the rocket.
It’s discarded at about 150km altitude.
That means it’s discarded 50km into space.
It’s officially space debris.
This hunk of junk traveled so many miles.
It’s a once in a lifetime find.
This was heat resistant paneling that was broken and burned.
