And if you were asked which are the healthiest, most of us would answer brown or wheat. This is true of course but there are a slew of other grains that are just as healthy, if not better.

Whole grains are not digested nearly as quickly as processed ones, they are slower to digest, as there are more elements in it, including fiber. One of the benefits of fiber is that it helps to creates a healthy digestive system, keeping food moving and helping to absorb toxins that would otherwise stay in your system.

Unfortunately, wheat bread can still be made from processed wheat that’s stripped of it’s nutrients. Knowing how to read your ingredients list in your labels can help you make the right choice.

For example, ingredients like “wheat flour” and “enriched wheat flour” are no different than white flour. Furthermore, wheat flour and unbleached wheat flour are NOT technically whole grains.
