Want to add even more color and botanical diversity to your diet? You can play around with these exotic superfood powders, many of which are powdered versions of foods that are among the most antioxidant-rich plants found on the planet. They are purely optional—but they do add vibrant colors and interesting new flavors to both juices and smoothies. Add 1 to 3 teaspoons per serving. Pronounced ah-sigh-ee, açaí is an Amazon forest superfruit that is super high in antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavonoids, substances that have been studied for their anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antiaging activity. Açaí has a dark, chocolate-like berry taste.
Alfalfa Juice Powder
Alfalfa powder, cultivated from a plant in the pea family, is used to aid digestion and detoxification and is high in phytoestrogens. Alfalfa powder has an earthy aroma and is slightly bitter, with a subtle, grassy flavor.
