In 1907, the Egyptologist and archaeologist Howard Carter was hired by George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon, to observe the excavations in the Egyptian Valley of the Kings. Scientists have managed to create a good reputation, meticulously describing and maintaining the opening. Searches in the valley, which lasted for many years, gave modest results that eventually brought down the wrath of the employer to Carter. In 1922, Lord Carnarvon told him that next year will cease funding for the work.
