 Former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is reportedly gearing up to take on a larger role inPresident Joe Biden’s re-election campaign — a decision that is receiving a fair amount of mockery from both sides of the political aisle.

Over the last month, although she is not officially a member of Biden’s campaign team, she has positioned herself as one of his most visible and influential surrogates. Clinton hosted a big-ticket fundraiser in late November, benefitting his re-election war chest — and two weeks earlier, she published an op-ed in The Atlantic defending the Biden administration’s response to the ongoing war between Israel and the terror group Hamas.

As NBC noted in an article published Monday, it is certainly possible that Clinton could help Biden on some issues:

Clinton is popular with women and key parts of the Democratic base and remains a fundraising draw who can help ensure Biden has the money to get his message out. There is still a two-for-the-price-of-one theme when it comes to her family: Husband Bill Clinton made a cameo at the fundraising event at their Washington home.

But not everyone was convinced that Clinton, who lost to former President Donald Trump in 2016, was the best person to help Biden defeat Trump — who still has a formidable lead on the rest of the Republican primary field — in 2024.

“Excellent! Bring in the woman incredibly disliked in swing states to campaign for Biden,” Doug Powers said in a post on X.

“It’s entirely possible that the Democratic Party actively does NOT want to win the presidency in 2024,” Margot Cleveland added.

“She couldn’t even win her own election how is she gonna win his for him?” Hannah Cox asked.

Even some on the hard left were unimpressed with the possibility that they’d be seeing more of Clinton.

Ex-MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan said, “Ah yes, when you’re a Democrat struggling to beat Donald Trump, you call for help from… *checks notes*… the last Democrat to lose to Donald Trump.”

Marianne Williamson, who is running against Biden in the Democratic primary, saw the opportunity to plug her own run: “We can go forward, not backwards.”

“Some of the world’s richest people were braced for their financial details to be exposed on Tuesday night after a major offshore company admitted that its computer records had been hacked,” the UK’s Telegraph reported in a story headlined “Super-rich fear their financial details will be exposed following Bermuda cyber hack.”

And major law firm Appleby has released a statement saying, “Appleby has recently received enquiries from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists [ICIJ] and a number of media organisations who are partners of the ICIJ. These enquiries have arisen from documents that journalists claim to have seen and involve allegations made against our business and the business conducted by some of our clients.

“We take any allegation of wrongdoing, implicit or otherwise, extremely seriously. Appleby operates in highly regulated jurisdictions and like all professional organisations in our regions, we are subject to frequent regulatory checks and we are committed to achieving the high standards set by our regulators.

“Appleby has thoroughly and vigorously investigated the allegations and we are satisfied that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing, either on the part of ourselves or our clients.”

“We are disappointed that the media may choose to use information which could have emanated from material obtained illegally and that this may result in exposing innocent parties to data protection breaches.”

The story said, “Appleby, a firm based in Bermuda with offices in many tax havens, said it was in the process of warning clients that they may be implicated in a massive leak of sensitive information.

“It is understood the leak involves some of Britain’s wealthiest people, who were instructing lawyers and public relations companies in an effort to protect their reputations.

“The disclosure of the leak also threatens to call into question the status of several British Overseas Territories which can offer tax benefits to the very wealthy.”

The Brazilian bride who died in a helicopter crash on the way to her wedding

In December 2016, a Brazilian bride's surprise entrance to her wedding went tragically wrong when the helicopter she was in crashed minutes before she was due to tie the knot. Rosemeire Silva Nascimento, who was wearing her wedding dress and veil, died instantly along with three others.

The 32-year-old nurse planned to amaze her fiancé, Udirley Narques Damasceno, 34, and their 300 guests with a stunning entrance by flying into the Recanto Beija-Flor venue in Sao Lourenco da Serra, a wealthy suburb of Sao Paulo, in a chopper. The groom was in a state of shock at the altar as he was told his bride had died.

In addition to Rosemeire, the other victims included her brother, Silvano Nascimento da Silva, who had been “very excited about the plan," the wedding photographer, Nayla Cristina Neves Lousada, who was six months pregnant, and Peterson Pinheiro, the pilot.

A US wedding turned deadly in December 2016 after a eucalyptus tree in a Southern California park collapsed on the bridal party posing for photos. A woman believed to be the mother of the bride was killed, and five people were injured. Witness Gilbert Duran was attending a girl's 15th birthday party in the park when the tree fell. Moments before the tree toppled, he and some friends had been taking pictures underneath it, but moved for better light.

At least 20 people were killed and hundreds injured at a wedding party in Jerusalem in 2001 after the dance floor collapsed. Guests were left clinging to the walls of the Versailles wedding hall when the third floor suddenly gave way and crashed through two stores below.

There were nearly 700 guests in the building, which was in the industrial Talpiot area of Jerusalem. 23 people fell to their deaths through two stories, including the groom's 80-year-old grandfather and his three-year-old second cousin, the youngest victim. Another 380 were injured, including the bride, who suffered severe pelvic injuries.

A father dropped dead of a heart attack just moments after finishing the first dance with his daughter at her wedding. Tim Buchanan, 54, was at Michele Howard's nuptials in Costa Rica when the tragedy happened, along with his wife and her mother Jeni.

The 51 wedding guests who where killed by a suicide bomber

This is the haunting image of a mass grave dug for some of the 51 guests who were killed while dancing at a wedding in Gaziantep, Turkey. The killer, who wore an explosive belt, was between12-14 years old. It was Turkey's deadliest bombing of 2016.

12 people were buried the day after the attack, but other funerals had to wait because many of the victims were blown to pieces and DNA was the only way to identify them.

Not all surprises go as planned. In July 2015, a day of celebration quickly turned tragic when an Alaskan man, performing a surprise flyover at his daughter's wedding reception, died when his plane crashed.

Michael Zagula, 54, had performed the ceremony earlier at his daughter's wedding to a man he is said to have treated like a son.
About half the town of Trapper Creek, Alaska, some 120 miles north of Anchorage, was at the reception. Zagula posed for photographs with the happy couple at the cake cutting before slipping away.

"About 20 minutes later his plane was flying over, and he loved to fly, so he wanted to do something special for the kids," Klondike Hughes, a friend of Zagula's, said. Zagula flew over the party, but as he was returning, he clipped some trees and lost control of the aircraft. Many of the guests either witnessed or heard the crash.

The bride who drowned during her wedding photo shoot

In 2012, a woman taking part in a "trash the dress" wedding photo shoot drowned after being pulled underwater by the weight of her wedding gown while snapping pictures in a river near Dorwin Falls in Quebec.

Photographer Louis Pagakis said 30-year-old Maria Pantazopoulos entered the Ouareau River in her wedding dress so she could have her picture taken in the style of wedding photography meant to symbolize that permanence of the marriage. But the dress quickly became saturated, and the weight of it was simply too much for the 100-pound Pantazopoulos, who began to sink to the bottom. The photographer and a witness tried to save her but were unsuccessful. A scuba diver later found Pantzopoulos' body at the bottom of a nearby stagnant pool of water.

In 2013, nine women in a limo, including the bride-to-be, were caught in a tragic fire that started burning just as the car was crossing the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge near San Francisco. Five of the women were burnt alive including Felomina Geronga, Jennifer Balon, 39, of Dublin; Michelle Estrera, 35, of Fresno; Anna Alcantara, 46, of San Lorenzo; and bride Neriza Fojas, 31, of Monterey. They were headed to a party in Foster City to celebrate Fojas' nuptials when the blaze started.

A woman was killed and four people were injured by rogue bullets during a wedding celebration

Celebratory gunfire during a wedding ceremony in India went horribly wrong when one guest was killed, and four others were injured. The dramatic incident took place at Savitiri Marriage Hall, in Karnal district, Haryana, northern India, in November 2016.

Wedding guests started firing shots into the air soon after the ceremony to celebrate, which is a tradition. The party, however, soon turned tragic when guest Sunita, 48, was accidentally shot in the chest and died later in hospital. Four other guests were injured, including an 11-year-old girl, and they were all rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

Turmeric is one the most thoroughly researched plants in existence today. Over 4,000 scientific studies have proven the healing benefits of curcumin.  Did you know that literally thousands of published, peer-reviewed studies conducted and compiled over the years lend credence to the notion that turmeric works the same as, or even better than, at least 14 pharmaceutical drugs currently on the market?

Here are some classes of drugs that research shows can be effectively replaced with turmeric:  

• Statin drugs for cholesterol. Lipitor/Atorvastatin(cholesterol medication): A 2008 study published in the journal Drugs in R & D found that a standardized preparation of curcuminoids from Turmeric compared favorably to the drug atorvastatin (trade name Lipitor) on endothelial dysfunction, the underlying pathology of the blood vessels that drives atherosclerosis, in association with reductions in inflammation and oxidative stress in type 2 diabetic patients.

• Corticosteroid drugs. Corticosteroids (steroid medications): A 1999 study published in the journal Phytotherapy Research found that the primary polyphenol in turmeric, the saffron colored pigment known as curcumin,compared favorably to steroids in the management of chronic anterior uveitis, an inflammatory eye disease. A 2008 study published in Critical Care Medicine found that curcumin compared favorably to the corticosteroid drug dexamethasone in the animal model as an alternative therapy for protecting lung transplantation-associated injury by down-regulating inflammatory genes.An earlier 2003 study published in Cancer Letters found the same drug also compared favorably to dexamethasone in a lung ischaemia-repurfusion injury model.

• Antidepressants. Prozac/Fluoxetine & Imipramine  (antidepressants): A 2011 study published in the journalActa Poloniae Pharmaceutica found that curcumin compared favorably to both drugs in reducing depressive behavior in an animal model.More than just a potential replacement for Prozac because of its efficacy, turmeric does not cause “suicidal ideation or other psychotic disorders” which is a documented frightening side effect from taking Prozac.

• Aspirin (blood thinner): A 1986 in vitro and ex vivo study published in the journalArzneimittelforschung found that curcumin has anti-platelet and prostacyclin modulating effects compared to aspirin, indicating it may have value in patients prone to vascular thrombosis and requiring anti-arthritis therapy.

• Anti-inflammatory Drugs: A 2004 study published in the journal Oncogene found that curcumin (as well as resveratrol) were effective alternatives to the drugs aspirin, ibuprofen, sulindac, phenylbutazone, naproxen, indomethacin, diclofenac, dexamethasone, celecoxib, and tamoxifen in exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative activity against tumor cells.

• Oxaliplatin (chemotherapy drug): A 2007 study published in the International Journal of Cancer found that curcumin compares favorably with oxaliplatin as an antiproliferative agenet in colorectal cell lines.

• Metformin (diabetes drug): A 2009 study published in the journal Biochemitry and Biophysical Research Community explored how curcumin might be valuable in treating diabetes, finding that it activates AMPK (which increases glucose uptake) and suppresses gluconeogenic gene expression  (which suppresses glucose production in the liver) in hepatoma cells. Interestingly, they found curcumin to be 500 times to 100,000 times (in the form known as tetrahydrocurcuminoids(THC)) more potent than metformin in activating AMPK and its downstream target acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC).

A new executive order from President Obama could affect property owners. The order institutes new EPA rules, expanding the authority of that agency under the Clean Water Act.

But critics say the new rule violates Supreme Court rulings and will burden property owners.

The proposed rule would allow the federal government to regulate tributaries and ditches that collect water. Many are concerned this could lead to unreasonable regulation of private property and impede farming.

The Supreme Court has ruled against the federal government’s attempts to expand the Clean Water Act twice. In the 2001 case of Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County v. Army Corps of Engineers, and again in the 2006 case of Rapanos v. United States.

“Property owners will not be able to engage in activities they should be able to engage in,” said Daren Bakst, a research fellow in agriculture policy at the Heritage Foundation.

“This will be devastating to private property rights. It’s an attack on private property rights. Most people don’t have the money to pay for all these permits” he added.

The EPA responded with a blog post, which carefully retreats from its earlier position of regulating ditches and parses it language over tributaries.

“We’ve heard feedback that our proposed definition of tributaries was confusing and ambiguous, and could be interpreted to pick up erosion in a farmer’s field, when that’s not our aim. So we looked at ways to refine that definition, be precise about the streams we’re talking about, and make sure there are bright lines around exactly what we mean.”

“We’re limiting protection to ditches that function like tributaries and can carry pollution downstream—like those constructed out of streams. Our proposal talked about upland ditches, and we got feedback that the word “upland” was confusing, so we’ll approach ditches from another angle.”

Regardless of the precise language these new rules contain, something is very troubling with this system.

The federal bureaucracy and the president are able to just institute rules which have not been approved by Congress and that may violate Supreme Court rulings.

These rule changes could affect the way millions of Americans live and work.

Why are un-elected officials and the president, who has no authority to make law, able to make such changes?

There’s a double standard when it comes to many conservatives and buying American made cars.

It is often implied that it is patriotic to buy American and practically a betrayal to buy foreign made vehicles. But is it really our patriotic duty to buy inferior products?

America’s biggest automakers are nearly all on the government dole.

In addition to being on welfare, the American automakers are all run by unions.
So purchasing an American made car in fact supports unions who in turn funnel money to the Democratic Party.

Union leadership has led to a steady decrease in manufacturing quality and an increase in cost.

One need only look at General Motors and their massive list of dangerous recalls to see what kind of quality their line represents today.

Furthermore, many of the domestic automakers buy parts that are made overseas, anyways.

The ‘American made’ label is usually a misnomer, as the parts under the hood are often made in Japan or China.

Conversely, many foreign automakers have plants in the United States, employ Americans, and manufacture their vehicles right here, free of union interference.

Subaru, for example, has produced quality, affordable cars, manufactured in America for decades.

When the British forced an inferior and heavily taxed tea on the American colonists, many turned to Dutch-supplied tea which was smuggled into the country.

They sought quality and affordability and felt it was unfair to be made to support the East India Tea Company just because it was British.

The lesson is that the principles of market competition were valued by our founders, and that free and open trade is beneficial to consumers.

It isn’t patriotic to buy an inferior automobile. Using your money to find the best value offered on the market is both wise and in keeping with American traditions.
If American automakers want our money, they should earn it!

Let them make a better product and American consumers will once again rejoice in owning American cars. Until then, it is an open market.
