7 Ways to Beat Holiday Stress

Are you stressed out about the holidays? Who isn’t? Here are 7 ways to cope with stress for maximum enjoyment this season:
Dont skip meals. Skipping meals while holiday shopping, working, and preparing for parties is a recipe for energy crashes and mood swings. If you don’t have time for meals just bring a bag of raw, unsalted pumpkin seeds or almonds along and eat a handful or two every two to three hours to stabilize blood sugar, energy, moods, and even weight.
Drink Water to Combat Stress and Alcohol-Linked Dehydration.  Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dehydration, the reason many people feel “hung over” from drinking too much or eating too much heavy food.
Pop a B and C Vitamin. B complex vitamins and vitamin C are depleted by stress and alcohol consumption.  B vitamins are essential for energy production within the body and vitamin C is the most important nutrient for the stress glands (the adrenal glands).
Give Yourself the Gift of Rest. Take some time out for you to replenish and recharge your energy.  Enjoy a hot bath, a nap, a candle-lit evening, or head to bed early so you don’t wear yourself down during the holidays.
Its OK to Say No“ to people who steal your energy and stress you out.  Doing everything you’re asked to do during the holidays might be a recipe to maintain the status quo but it can also be a recipe for stress and ill health.  If your heart isn’t in it, it’s best to honor your instincts and say “no.”
Holiday Within Your Means—Financial stress is damaging to your health, your relationship, and according to new research, even your IQ.  You don’t need to buy lavish gifts for everyone you know to show them how much you love them.
Go Outside and Get Some Fresh Air—Just breathing in some oxygen-rich outdoor air can help reduce stress hormone levels in as little as one minute.  Fresh air also gives our energy a boost and helps us ward off stress.
